Chapter Ten

Roman was true to his word, and he really did tie me to his bed for most of the day, only letting up once dinner rolled around and his stomach growled at him. So now I’m sore, but in the best way, because it has been an intense few days with my guys. Not that I’m complaining, because holy hell, not a chance, but I think me and my body need a day of rest to recover a little.

So today, I plan to train, since Creek told me that Colt isn’t available today. I want to go running. Do something that makes me feel like me again. Because with everything going on around us, and inside of me, I’ve never felt less like myself in all of my lives.

I pull on my sneakers, tie my hair up, and rather than heading into the gym, I decide to run outside. The way I used to. I stretch out on the patio, taking in the chirping of birds as the sun rises over the horizon spilling oranges and pinks into the dawning sky. It’s beautiful, all of it. I lose myself to it for a few moments, just letting myself be, before I start off towards the edge of the property. Today, I run using no powers, just pushing myself until I can’t go anymore. Pushing until I puke. Just like before.

So I start at a jog, picking up my pace once I reach the edge of the stream and then kick it up a notch as I head towards the back of the property. I try to clear my mind of all of the craziness swirling around inside of me, as hard as it is, I push every little fucking thing aside and just exist. Taking note of how small I am in the universe, and accept that not everything is in my control. I lap the property four times before my breathing starts to struggle, so I push harder. Needing to feel something, anything, that makes me feel like myself.

Other than the touch of my guys, everything just feels a little… off.

Well, not off. Just, different.

I know I need to take the time to go through everything in my head, in my heart. I have literally a millennia of information locked up inside myself, for when I want it, but my biggest problem right now, is there are so many different versions of me, that I don’t know which one is right.

I let out a deep breath and keep pushing, clearing my mind of the insanity that threatens to spill over, and locking it back up until I feel lighter. I don’t know how much time passes while I run, but the sun is high in the sky by the time I drag myself inside, still not feeling even close to as exhausted as I once would have been. Angel benefits I guess. I head to the gym, and strip down before diving into the pool. No one else
